One month!!! Can you believe it? One month of sleep deprivation (everyone tells me that gets easier), and constant eating, sleeping, pooping, and crying on Xander's part. But it is all worth it because we have a healthy, beautiful baby boy. Take a gander at his Photos (check out the Xander section in the Photos tab and the Family Photos section in the Photos tab).
This past Thursday and Saturday, I got to get away from the house for a little over an hour while Michael was Xander's sole caregiver for that time. It was nice to just get out in public and see daylight, if only for a while. So far, I have only been to a local coffee shop, Walgreen's, and McDonalds. But those places are like palaces when you can't get away from the house for very long. Michael gets to leave for work, go out for a night on the town, and see adult humans so much more than I do. But for me, I am a human vending machine to a teeny munchkin. But he is awesome. So much to do when one has a newborn!!!
On the postpartum weight loss front, I have lost about 15 pounds so far (I WILL lose more in the coming months, dog gone it) and Michael will be posting those progressive pics on this website too after my 6 week OBGYN appointment, so ya'll can cheer me on to my pre-baby weight. I have my postpartum appointment in less than two weeks, and I hope to get a clean bill of health from my OBGYN.
Xander has his 1 month appointment with the pediatrician on Tuesday. He will check Xander's weight, give us advice on future nursing/bottle feeding and sleep patterns, check Xander's circumcision, give us appointments for Xander's next vaccinations, check Xander's development, etc.
Xander can hold his head up for a few seconds, and can keep a gaze for a few seconds, and can grasp objects for a few seconds- all great milestones for a one month old. Can't wait till he masters sleeping thru the night. Wish us luck- and wish us sleep.
